Session Replays

Session Replays let you watch recordings of user sessions to understand exactly how users interact with your website and product.

The Replays List

The left sidebar shows all recorded sessions with:

• User Name — Identified user or “New visitor” badge for anonymous visitors
• Entry Page — The page where the session started
• Referrer — Where the user came from
• Duration — How long the session lasted
• Event Count — Number of events in the session
• Timestamp — When the session occurred

Use the filters at the top to narrow down by context, hostname, entry page, or sort order.

The Replay Player

Click any replay to open the player interface:

Playback Controls

• Play/Pause — Control playback
• Speed — Watch at 1x or 6x speed
• Skip Inactive — Automatically fast-forward through idle periods
• Progress Bar — Scrub to any point in the session
• Fullscreen — View replays in full detail

The Sidebar Tabs

The right sidebar has four tabs:

Summary

Quick session overview:

• Session duration
• Number of events
• Errors encountered
• Related sessions from the same user

Details

Technical information about the session:

• Replay ID, Session ID, Device ID
• Browser and version
• Screen size
• Operating system
• Country

Timeline

Chronological list of all events:

• Page views
• Clicks
• Form submissions
• Custom events

Click any event to jump to that moment in the replay.

Use Cases

Debugging Issues

When a user reports a problem:

1. Find their session in the replays list
2. Watch what they were doing before the issue
3. Check the timeline for any errors
4. See their exact browser and device setup

Understanding User Behavior

• Watch how users navigate your onboarding flow
• See where users get stuck or confused
• Identify UI elements that aren’t intuitive
• Validate that new features work as expected

Supporting Users

When a user starts a chat, you can:

1. View their recent session replays

Privacy Considerations

Session replays automatically mask:

• Password fields
• Credit card inputs
• Elements with .rr-ignore class
